Industrial emissions reduction technologies

SBB offers a range of technologies related to flue gas cleaning to meet the stringent emission standards required by current regulations and directives. These technologies address the reduction of emissions of:

  • Dust
  • Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)
  • Sulfur Oxides (SOx)
  • Acidic compounds such as HCl and HF
  • Mercury compounds
  • Heavy metals
  • Dioxins and furans

The NOx reduction technologies, known as deNOx installations, have a long tradition in the history of SBB Energy S.A. In this area, SBB Energy is a pioneer in the Polish market, where in the early 21st century it began successfully offering deNOx nitrogen oxide reduction technologies using both primary and secondary methods.

The nitrogen oxide reduction technologies are based on reagents such as:

  • 24% ammonia water
  • Urea

Secondary nitrogen oxide reduction methods are based on:

  • Non-catalytic SNCR technology
  • Catalytic SCR technology

Secondary non-catalytic SCR methods, depending on the fuel and solutions, include:

  • High Dust
  • Tail-End

SOx and acidic compound (HCl and HF) reduction technologies:

  • Using calcium or sodium sorbents
  • Based on the semi-dry method (pneumatic reactor)
  • Enabling operation over a wide load range
  • Combined with flue gas dust removal (bag filters)

Mercury and heavy metals, as well as dioxins and furans reduction technologies:

  • Using activated carbon injection

Dust removal technologies using:

  • Mechanical dust collectors
  • Bag filters
  • Electrostatic precipitators
Hydrogen technologies

Hydrogen technology is based on the use of hydrogen as an energy carrier. Hydrogen energy is one of the basic pillars of the implementation of the European Green Deal, which aims to achieve climate neutrality in Europe by 2050. SBB ENERGY S.A. gained experience in hydrogen technologies during the implementation of a pioneering trigeneration project based on green hydrogen produced in a 5 MW PEM electrolyzer.

SBB ENERGY S.A. in the area of hydrogen technologies, it provides comprehensive services including:

Decarbonization Technologies in Energy

In relation to the process of decarbonizing the energy and heating sectors, SBB ENERGY S.A. offers technologies for converting coal-fired boilers to alternative fuels.

  • We offer the conversion of pulverized coal boilers to biomass-fired boilers through:
  • Modernization of existing systems allowing for biomass co-firing;
  • Installation of dedicated biomass burners;
  • Conversion of pulverized coal boilers to fluidized bed boilers with a fixed bed.

In addition to the modernization of the furnace, we offer installations for receiving, storing, preparing, and supplying biomass to boilers.

We offer the conversion of pulverized coal boilers to gas-fired boilers through:

  • Installation of gas burners fired by natural gas or process gas on pulverized coal boilers;
  • Installation of gas burners fired by natural gas or process gas on grate boilers.

In addition to the modernization of the furnace, we offer installations for the delivery and preparation of network and stored gas for supply to the burners.
