Mechanical erection
Under its experience and held certificates, SBB ENERGY S.A. offers a package of services in scope of overhauls, repairs and retrofits of a wide range of power and industrial equipment such as:
- steam and water boilers in scope of the pressure part, burner systems, auxiliary equipment,
- flue gas desulphurization plants in full scope together with insulation and corrosion protection,

Under the above services SBB ENERGY S.A. delivers complete elements of temporary systems withfittings and exhaust silencers based on its own design and prefabricates elements of pipework in line with Polish standards, as well as DIN or ASME.
Electrical and I&C installation
SBB ENERGY S.A. offers full scope services in the field of electric and I&C equipment installation on a turnkey basis. Acquired experience and certificates allow to provide renovation, retrofit/upgrade and installation services in a full scope and at any facility.
Under the electric and I&C part supply and installation of the following are executed:
- electric switchgears and control cabinets,
- transformers,
- cable routes, as well as power supply, control and instrument cables,
- instrument and control equipment,

Commissioning

Optimization and measurements
Optimization activities carried out by SBB ENERGY S.A. include:
- Analysis of basic boiler operation parameters,
- Analysis of the distribution of the excess air coefficient in the furnace chamber,
- Assessment of the correctness of indications of I&C facility equipment,
- Combustion air balance control,
- Assessment of the possibility of the UAR characteristics change (in DCS systems),
- General assessment of the technical condition and quality of mill installations operation,
- General assessment of the cleanliness of the boiler’s heating surfaces,
- General assessment of the cleanliness of the Rotary Air Heaters.
Optimization of primary nitrogen oxide reduction methods includes:
- Introduction of sub-stoichiometric combustion in the burner belt,
- Reduction of O2 content with the use of coatings protecting against low oxygen corrosion,
- Use of low-emission burners of a special design, changes of the inclination angles,
- Implementation of conclusions from the measurements of air flow to the boiler,
- Secondary air grading at the height of the combustion chamber,
- Control of the operation of steam blowers and dust phones,
- Introduction of corrections to the AMA of the boiler, within the existing regulatory possibilities specified in SIEK the Detailed Instructions for Boiler Operation; introduction of new characteristics and changes to the boiler’s AMA (specified in the settings albums).
Optimization of secondary nitrogen oxide reduction methods includes:
- Methods of selective non-catalytic reduction SNCR (Selective Non-Catalityc Reduction),
- Methods of selective catalytic reduction SCR (Selective Catalityc Reduction),
- Methods of selective catalytic reduction of SCR type Tail End,
- Methods of simultaneous removal of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides,
- An innovative method by SBB – Hybrid DeNOx System.
Optimization of boilers operation includes:
- Analysis of the quality of mill installations operation,
- Improvement of boiler efficiency (reduction of losses of incomplete combustion),
- Improvement of boiler efficiency (steam temperature increase) with auto-regulation of angle changes in the position of the burners,
- Increasing the flexibility of boiler operation (e.g. by modifying the AMA, curves changes),
- Analysis of the quality of burned fuel and the assessment of the impact on the operational and low-emission parameters,
- Staff training in the use of the introduced corrections and operation of additional deNOx installations,
- Meeting technical requirements, e.g. in terms of downstream steam parameters of the boiler,
- Meeting the safe combustion process requirements for dust, jet and vortex burners,
- Meeting the safe combustion process requirements for various types of boilers with pulverized jet burners, vortex burners, fluidized bed boilers and boilers with grate furnaces.
Measurements of boilers, mills, fans include:
- Determination of thermal losses and boiler efficiency along with the implementation of conclusions based on the measurements taken,
- Determination of the heat balance of the boiler,
- Determination of the operating parameters of mill systems along with the implementation of conclusions based on the measurements taken,
- Determination of flue gas pressures and temperatures distribution in the furnace chamber and flue gas ducts along with the implementation of conclusions based on the measurements taken,
- Determination of combustion air pressures and temperatures distribution along with the implementation of conclusions based on the measurements taken,
- Determination of the combustion air balance,
- Determination of flue gas composition (NOx, SO2, CO, CO2),
- Verification of tightness of the installation in the way of flue gas,
- Fuel and furnace waste analyzes in an accredited external laboratory, eg GIG, Energopomiar, ICHPW.
SBB ENERGY S.A. also provides services in the field of:
- Selection of the best possible location of O2 motion and temperature probes in order to obtain an accurate data for the operation of the boiler – tests carried out with various variants of boiler and mill systems operation,
- Performing measurements of NOx, SO2, CO, CO2 emissions using reference methods,
- Measurements of temperature distribution in the furnace chamber using HVT probes
- Measurements of the particle residence time in boiler furnaces or Thermal Waste Processing Plants,
- Ongoing testing of the content of combustible parts (by roasting in a chamber furnace at 850° C) and of NH3 (using chemical reagents) in fly ash.
Engineering specialist works
Hybrid and coatings
Layers: (DGL + CER, or 2 x CER)
- Innovative metallic-ceramic coating for corrosion protection of steam boilers, obtained as a result of development works of HYBRID coatings.
- Increased chemical and temperature resistance thanks to the application of an external ceramic layer.
- Very good adhesion resulting from the diffusion-reaction bond between the base material and the DGL and CER layers, as well as the high thermal resistance of the outer ceramic CER layer above 900 ° C. Multiple CER layers can be applied directly to the base material.
Chemical cleaning
SBB ENERGY S.A. It has a well-equipped chemical laboratory specializing in the analysis of boiler sludge, developing technologies for chemical cleaning of power boilers, and physico-chemical measurements of the steam-water system in energy facilities.
Chemical cleaning of systems is carried out during process operations such as:
- leak proof test of the system to be cleaned and the temporary system
- copper removal,
- flushing after copper removal
- acid treatment,
- flushing after acid treatment,
- passivation,
- waste water neutralization.
Chemical Laboratory
The chemical lab of SBB ENERGY S.A. conducts the following testing and analyses:
- analyses of boiler deposits – solubility, qualitative and quantitative analysis
- analysis of corrosion wastage of equipment structural material in pickling baths
- testing the effectiveness of corrosion inhibitor
- analysis of water and steam in the water and steam cycle of power generating boilers
- and units (it is possible to perform on-site analyses)
- ash analysis
- analysis of ion exchanger properties
- analysis of chemicals for water correction
- analysis of solid and liquid products of flue gas desulphurization process
- Development of a concept, procedure of acid cleaning and chemical cleaning of power equipment pressure parts in compliance with requirements of UDT (Office of Technical Inspection) and obtains their approval by CLDT (Central Laboratory of Technical Inspection).
Electrical and I&C design works
SBB ENERGY S.A. offers comprehensive electrical and I&C works.
Our design office in Gliwice has been successfully cooperating with the most important market players since 2010 in the field of construction of new generating units, modernization of existing power units as well as new technologies of energy storage and hydrogen installations.
Our experienced team of designers prepares documentation for our own projects as well as for external contractors at every stage of the project, in particular:
- technical concept, basic design,
- construction project,
- detailed design,
- author’s supervision.
We carry out our design works based on professional engineering tools such as: E-PLAN, AUTOCAD, BENTLEY MICROSTATION, REVIT, DIALUX
R&D activities
R&D activities are carried out in the field of new technologies in energy and industry, the aim of which is to expand the company’s portfolio as part of the services provided. The team’s activities focus on such technological areas as:
- environmental protection, including the reduction of harmful substances from energy processes and CO2 capture and storage;
- hydrogen production, storage and processing,
- heat and electricity storage,
- renewable energy sources,
- energy from waste,
The R&D section also conducts design work related to the development of innovative, proprietary technological systems in accordance with the customer’s needs, actively participates in obtaining national and EU funds for research and development work in the company’s areas of activity and participates in their implementation. The team enriches its experience and knowledge through cooperation with universities in Poland and Europe, as well as participation in national and international conferences and training.
