Foundation Stone Laid for Kraków’s New Heat Generation Facility
The laying of the foundation stone marks an important and symbolic milestone in the development of one of the largest and most significant district heating projects in the region. The ceremony was held at the construction site and brought together representatives of the investor, contractors and public authorities.
Work on the project has been underway for several months. The investment is being delivered by a consortium comprising Unibep S.A., as consortium leader, and SBB ENERGY S.A., as technological partner, for PGE Energia Ciepła.

Project Overview
Investor: PGE Energia Ciepła
Location: Kraków, Poland
Project Value: PLN 885.7 million (net)
Consortium: Unibep S.A. (Leader), SBB ENERGY S.A. (Partner)
As part of the project, SBB ENERGY S.A. is responsible for:
- modernization of the electrical power infrastructure,
- construction of a 110 kV substation together with power export systems,
- medium- and low-voltage electrical installations, as well as control and instrumentation systems,
- construction of the heat export system, including the district heating
- water pumping station, water treatment and flue gas discharge installations,
- auxiliary systems, including oil, glycol and ammonia water installations,
- commissioning of the entire facility.
We are currently completing the design phase of the project. We have also prepared the infrastructure required for the future connection of the new heat source to Kraków’s district heating network.
The next stage will focus on the construction and installation of the facility’s main technological systems. The coming months will involve intensive construction and assembly works, alongside the coordination of activities across all project disciplines.
Once completed, the new facility will provide Kraków residents with a reliable and efficient heat supply, supporting one of the largest district heating markets in Poland.
We would like to thank PGE Energia Ciepła and Unibep for their cooperation throughout this project, as well as all teams involved for their commitment and work to date.
