Construction of a New Heat Generation Source in Kraków Officially Launched

On 3rd December, the official launch of the construction of a new heat generation unit in Kraków took place. The project is being carried out by a consortium comprising Unibep S.A. (leader) and SBB ENERGY S.A. (partner) for PGE Energia Ciepła S.A., Kraków branch, part of the PGE Group. With a value of nearly PLN 886 million (net), the investment is the result of a shared vision and close cooperation among all involved parties. Its implementation will provide residents with a modern, low-emission and high-efficiency heat source, fully aligned with the objectives of the ongoing transformation of the energy sector.
SBB ENERGY S.A. acts as the General Designer and technological partner within the consortium, overseeing key areas of the investment, including:
• modernisation of the electrical power infrastructure,
• construction of a 110 kV substation and power export systems,
• thermal, fuel, combustion and auxiliary installations,
• medium- and low-voltage electrical systems and I&C systems,
• management of the technological start-up process.
Each of these elements requires a highly precise approach, extensive experience, and advanced coordination of competencies that SBB ENERGY S.A. has developed both in Poland and abroad.
Commenting on the scope and importance of the project, Ziemowit Słomczyński, President of the Management Board of SBB ENERGY S.A., emphasised:
– “This project demonstrates how ambitious decarbonisation goals can be turned into concrete, technologically advanced solutions for the residents of Kraków. As the General Designer and technological partner of the consortium, we are responsible for integrating the project’s key installations and systems, drawing on more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector. I am confident that, together with PGE Energia Ciepła and Unibep S.A., we will deliver a project that will significantly enhance the efficiency and security of the local district heating infrastructure.”

An intensive phase of project execution is now beginning. Thanks to the synergy of teams from PGE, Unibep and SBB ENERGY, the project will be carried out in accordance with the schedule and the highest standards of quality and safety. The SBB ENERGY S.A. team is fully prepared to perform all entrusted tasks, continuing its long-standing mission of implementing modern, low-emission technologies in the energy sector.
